Features of Shungite

Elite Shungite is a rare black stone and contains up to 98% carbon. It is found in the Republic of Karelia in Russia. Shungite is unique in that it is the only known material to contain fullerenes (sometimes referred to as buckyballs), microscopic, hollow pure carbon molecules that are believed to be an extremely powerful anti-oxidant and are being thoroughly studied for their benefits to health. The discovery of fullerenes was a real breakthrough and it won Scientists a Nobel prize in 1996.

History of Shungite

It is thought that shungite is at least 2 billion years old, but where it came from still remains a mystery. There are several beliefs on where shungite originated, with the two most popular theories being from an ancient sea or ocean or an ancient meteorite; the latter might help explain why shungite is almost entirely concentrated in just one area on Earth as well as its high carbon content.

Three Types of Shungite

Elite Shungite: Type 1 Silver/Noble contains up to 98% carbon
Petrovsky Shungite: Type 2 contains 50 - 70% carbon
Black Shungite: Type 3 Regular contains 30 - 50% carbon

Health Benefits of Shungite

Shungite has been used for centuries in Russia and its properties have been extensively researched for decades. The full potential and health benefits of shungite are relatively new to the rest of the world and research is still ongoing to discover its true potential and applications.

So far, studies have shown that shungite is both a natural anti-oxidant and natural anti-inflammatory as well as anti-microbial properties to kill viruses, bacteria and pathogens. It is thought that the fullerenes, which are carbon nanostructures, work by damaging the cell walls of bacteria and viruses.

Shungite also has water purification properties and shungite water has long been recommended by naturopaths and natural healers as a treatment for a variety of illnesses including cold and flu, allergies, sore throat, kidney and liver problems, fatigue and much more.

Shungite and Protecting Against EMF

Research into the EMF protection properties are still ongoing, but it is thought that the fullerenes in shungite have the ability to reduce electromagnetic frequencies, transforming or neutralising the man-made EMF.

A 2003 study shows that 'shielding with shungite decreased the severity of damage produced by high-frequency electromagnetic radiation.'

Using and Caring for Elite Shungite

You can either use the Elite Shungite as a wearable around your neck or by placing it in a bag or pocket. The shungite pendant comes with an adjustable cord. As it has a high carbon content it may leave a black mark on your skin and clothing. To remove this black residue it is advised to wash the stone carefully under warm running water.

The shungite pendant needs to be treated with care due to its fragile nature and it is recommended that the shungite stone is washed regularly under warm running water for a few minutes and left to dry in direct sunlight for at least 6 hours.

Please note: as every piece of raw, elite shungite is unique, each piece is a different size. However, the approximate size is 20 - 30mm (H) x 20 - 30mm (W) x 10mm (D).

The total length of the cord which is placed over your head is approximately 600mm, tied halfway in a knot and is black in colour.

The Elite Shungite stone is predominantly black but with a shiny silvery surface and metallic lustre.

If for any reason the product does not meet your expectations, we will happily offer you an exchange or a refund on the product purchase price if you return the item to us within 30 days of receipt. Please note the following terms and conditions must be met:

The Elite Shungite Pendant must be returned to us undamaged, unaltered, in its original condition and in its original packaging
Shipping costs to return the item to us and, in the case of an exchange to receive a replacement product are entirely the responsibility of the purchaser unless the item has been deemed as faulty (see below)
We will only refund the price of the product and we do not refund the original shipping cost
Once the item has been received and inspected by Grounded Wellness, we will issue a refund back to your original payment method or arrange for a replacement item to be sent.

If you wish to return the item to us please email us at hello@groundedwellness.co.uk stating the reason for your return and quoting the tax invoice number which will have been sent to you by email when you placed your order.

Faulty Items:

Any item that is deemed faulty upon opening must be reported to Grounded Wellness within 7 days of receipt. Please email us at hello@groundedwellness.co.uk stating your tax invoice number and, where possible, including a photo and description of the fault.

We ask that you initially cover the cost of return postage to us and once we have inspected the item we will reimburse you if the item is deemed faulty. For all faulty goods we either offer you a full refund on the product price or we cover the cost of sending a replacement product to you.
